Terms of Service (Free Beta)
Announced: June 28, 2026
Effective: July 1, 2026
These Terms set the conditions and the rights and obligations of users and Sangjun Song (the "Operator"), who operates the Sooda free beta as an individual.
Article 1 (Service and Beta Period)
- The Service is a pre-launch beta for booking and connecting 1:1 video Korean lessons between teachers and students.
- The beta runs from July 1 through September 30, 2026 and is entirely free.
- There is no payment, settlement, or refund function, and the Operator collects no lesson fee or commission.
- If the period changes, the Operator will notify users in the Service before the change where reasonably possible.
Article 2 (Users and Lessons)
- A "User" accepts these Terms and registers; a "Student" books and attends lessons; and a "Teacher" provides lessons after approval.
- A "Lesson" is a 1:1 Korean-learning session by video between a Student and Teacher.
Article 3 (Posting and Changes)
- The Operator makes these Terms readily available at sign-up and in the Service.
- The Terms may change within applicable law. Changes adverse to users or material to their rights or obligations will normally be announced at least 7 days before effectiveness (30 days for significant changes), with the effective date and reason.
- An urgent security or legally required change may take effect immediately and be announced promptly afterward. Renewed consent will be obtained where required.
Article 4 (Formation and Registration Limits)
- The service agreement forms when a person reviews and accepts these Terms and required consents and completes registration.
- Registration may be refused or later terminated for a person under 18, identity misuse, false information, or technical inability to process registration.
- A reason for restriction or termination will normally be given unless law, investigation, or security prevents disclosure.
Article 5 (Bookings and Lessons)
- A Student books from times offered by a Teacher and separately consents to sharing the Student information needed for lesson preparation with that Teacher.
- A confirmation email follows. The video room is available only during the stated entry window, and a cancelled booking cannot be joined.
- A User who cannot attend should notify the counterpart as soon as possible and check booking status. If in-app cancellation is unavailable during beta, a cancellation request may be emailed to the Operator.
Article 6 (User Duties)
Users must follow law, these Terms, the Community Guidelines, and Service notices. Users must not:
- Use another person's information or provide false information;
- Access accounts/data without authority or interfere with the Service;
- Record, capture, or distribute a lesson without the counterpart's consent;
- Use, retain, or disclose another User's personal information outside the lesson purpose;
- Solicit external contact, payment, or off-platform transactions; or
- Engage in unlawful conduct, discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, or other rights violations.
Article 7 (Teacher Participation)
- Applicants must separately accept the Teacher Beta Participation Agreement and receive review and approval.
- Teachers independently choose availability and have no minimum lesson quota or fixed work hours.
- The Teacher Agreement is a contract setting free-beta participation conditions. It does not by itself constitute employment; the actual legal relationship is determined under applicable law by facts such as direction, control, and the manner of participation, not labels alone.
Article 8 (Operator Duties)
- The Operator complies with applicable law and makes reasonable efforts to maintain Service stability and safety.
- Personal information is handled under the Privacy Policy.
- Material interruptions or changes are announced in advance where reasonably possible, or promptly afterward in an emergency.
Article 9 (Changes, Interruptions, and Beta Limits)
- Features may be added, changed, or removed during testing. Maintenance, errors, security issues, or third-party infrastructure may cause temporary interruption.
- The Operator makes reasonable efforts to reduce foreseeable failures and restore service. Permanent discontinuation or early beta closure will be announced in advance unless urgent circumstances prevent it.
Article 10 (Content and Rights)
- Users retain rights in profiles and introductions they create and permit the Operator to store and display them only as needed to provide the Service.
- Content violating law, these Terms, or the Guidelines may be hidden or deleted. Unless urgent safety action is needed, the Operator will give a reason and an opportunity to respond.
- Rights in the Service code, layout, logo, and design belong to the Operator or their lawful owner.
Article 11 (Enforcement and Reports)
- Depending on severity, the Operator may warn, hide content, suspend, or terminate an account.
- Unless urgent safety or security action is required, a reason and opportunity to respond will be provided.
- Reports and appeals may be sent to kedu202606@gmail.com.
Article 12 (Account Deletion)
- Users may delete their account at any time in My Account. Pending bookings are cancelled.
- Direct identifiers are promptly deleted or anonymized. Pseudonymous records needed for booking integrity and proof of consent remain only for the period in the Privacy Policy.
- No payment or settlement records are created because there are no paid transactions.
Article 13 (Liability)
- The Operator is liable under applicable law for loss caused by the Operator's intent or negligence in violating law or these Terms.
- The Operator is not liable for loss caused by force majeure, a User's fault, or an uncontrollable third-party failure where the Operator has no intent or negligence.
- Users should ordinarily resolve disputes between themselves, but this does not release the Operator to the extent the Operator's act or breach caused the dispute.
- Nothing here limits rights under mandatory law.
Article 14 (Beta Closure)
- Service use ends when the beta closes. Beta accounts do not automatically migrate even if a full service launches.
- Operator-controlled beta data will be deleted or irreversibly anonymized within 30 days after closure. Processor backups, security logs, and exceptional retention follow the Privacy Policy.
Article 15 (Law and Jurisdiction)
Korean law governs. The parties will try to resolve disputes through discussion; unresolved disputes may be brought before the court having jurisdiction under the Korean Civil Procedure Act and other applicable law.
Article 16 (Operator and Contact)
- Operator: Sangjun Song (individual operation; no business registration)
- Email: kedu202606@gmail.com
